Now that President Obama has been in office for over 100 days, he has already made some unpopular decisions with the stimulus package as well as some recent foreign relation tactics. Most Americans believe 100 days is still a bit too early to judge whether or not he has made a dent in anything, but once we get to about a year I believe the criticism is going to come harder and the pressure for promised change will be demanded.

One way he may be able to win over the people right away is to figure out how to get the automotive industries back on track. With industry sales still diving and automakers unsure of when they will hit rock bottom, there still may be light at the end of the tunnel. There’s no doubt that the auto industry is in dire straits, but a few vehicles seem to only be flourishing. Here’s a list of 5 cars and trucks still going strong and sales have actually increased:
1. Buick Enclave: The Enclave received the Best New SUV / CUV (over $60,000) from the AJAC in 2008 which is just one of the reasons why sales have been up.
2. Chevrolet Malibu: a mid sized car produced in the United States by General Motors surprisingly had almost a 50% sales jump in 2008.
3. Hyundai Accent: a popular car available for under $15,000, not your first choice for power but still managed to increase sales while others faulted.
4. Honda Fit: a five-door hatchback subcompact car has increased sales not only for its extraordinary savings on gas, but in an era of small compact cars becoming more and more popular, the Fit is a fit for many.
5. Toyota Sequoia: Just the opposite of the Honda Fit, the Sequoia has become one of the largest and roomiest Toyota’s made which is even more surprising that sales have been up over 30%.
I’m sure other auto manufacturers will now research why cars like the ones listed above were able to stay above water in a sinking economy and try to follow their marketing lead. President Obama may also use these figures as an argument that some cars are consistently selling and sales are prospering during his early days in office. If things turn around completely, I’m not too sure if he will deserve the credit but I do guarantee in this society of Liberal/Conservative side taking, at least half the population of Americans will have his back.

The $2 Million Showdown: Bertone Mantide vs. Corvette ZR1
Stile Bertone’s Mantide now has a price and production run size: $2000000 and ten. Let’s see if it’s worth the 20× premium over its donor car: the Corvette. … In person, it creates the sort of time warp the iPhone did when it first went on sale in the summer of 2007. You felt as though you were holding a sliver of 2011 in your hands. The Mantide? I’d say it’s from 2017. Similar vehicles are on their way to leave the inner Solar System.
